OCEAN CITY, N.J. --- First Night, Ocean Citys New Years Eve celebration, offers a variety of entertainment for families and individuals at a reasonable cost.
The holiday gala features 60 entertainment programs at 14 central locations from 4 p.m. till midnight for just $14. There are fireworks at midnight, weather permitting.
The one admission price entitles visitors to seats at all programs except for the following: Tickets to the Ocean City Pops Orchestra and Seussical, the Musical, are $1 extra. Drifters tickets featuring Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Charlie Thomas, carry an extra charge of $3 as do performances of Back Beats, a tribute to the Beatles.
Opening ceremonies will be held 4 p.m. at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. It will include a ribbon cutting and greeting by City officials, entertainment by the Main Stage Singers and face painters and a trinket give away.
Other entertainment features include Broadway by Request, the Fabulous Grease Band, the Japanese Drummers, Rumors, a Fleetwood Mac cover band, the Bob Ferris Big Band, Jungle John with live animals, Irish dancers, rides for children at Gillians Wonderland Pier from 5 to 9 p.m., Inflatables for kids at the Sports and Civic Center from
4 to 8 p.m., famed Elvis performer, Ted Prior, the Magic of Chad Juros, Dave Smiths Americas Most Talented program, the Visual Expression Marionettes, the Give and Take Jugglers, the Turtle Singers, the On Key Barbershop Quartet, comedian Joel Weintraub, laughing in the New Year, folk music, Doo Wop singers, story teller, Jim Albertson, Impressionist-comedian, Mike-Cabot, Big Band Dancing at the Flanders Hotel, gospel music, harpist, Mary Took and more.
New this year will be the First Night Food Court, a variety of fine foods offered by seven members of the Ocean City Restaurant Assn. It will be open in the high school cafeteria from 3 p.m. till 10 p.m. Tickets will be $16 for adults, $8 for children.

Parking will be free throughout the City. Jitney transportation to entertainment sites will be available free from 6 p.m. till midnight.

22nd - EASTER WEEKEND EVENTS ARE SCHEDULED FOR OCEAN CITY
OCEAN CITY, N.J.----Ocean City Easter events kick-off with a fashion show for pets.
Events begin on Sat., March 22 at 11 a.m., with the Woofin Paws Pet Fashion Show at Carey Stadium, 6th St. off Boardwalk. The event is open to any pet that will not eat another pet.
Categories include Best Dressed Dog, Cat, Miscellaneous, Bathing Suits, Intelligent Pet Tricks, Best Face Licker, Most Patriotic, Cutest Tail Wagger and Pet-Owner Look Alike. Ribbons will be awarded to winners. Best of Show receives the Dean Schofield Woofin Paws Plaque for Perfection.
There will also be a Best Beagle Award in keeping with Ocean Citys plans to honor Charles Schulz at the Doo Dah Parade on April 26. The category also recognizes that Uno, a mischievous beagle, won best of show at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club competition. This was the first time a beagle has won the prize in the100 year history of the event.
A $5 entry fee for individual pets and a $10 fee for multiple entries (no limit) benefits the Ocean City Humane Society. Register for the contest at the field starting 10 a.m. the day of the show. In the event of rain or harsh weather, the event will be held inside the adjacent Sports and Civic Center.
Elvis performer, Ted Prior, will sing You Aint Nothin But a Hound Dog, Easter Bonnet and other songs appropriate to the various categories.
The Turtle Singers of Cape May County will bring their giant tortoise to the event if the weather is warm enough.

Ocean Citys Annual Giant Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for the beaches from 11th to 13th Streets on Sat., March 22 starting 2:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Boardwalk Merchants Assn. There will be five age groups, 1-2 at 11th St., 3-4 and 5-6 at12th St. and 7, 8 and 9 yrs. at 13th St. Only ages 1-2 may have an adult accompany them into the area.
Over 50,000 eggs with candy will be placed, 4,000 with prizes. Five grand prize bikes will be awarded plus other grand prizes in each age group. An awards ceremony will be held at the Pavilion, 11th at Boardwalk, following the hunt. In the event of rain, eggs will be distributed at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Participants should arrive at the beach on time as the hunt is over quickly.
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny is set for March 15 and 22 from 9 a.m. till noon at the Chatterbox, 9th and Central Ave. Order from the menu. The Bunny will pose for photos at no charge. The event is sponsored by the Ocean City Retail Merchants Assn.
Also on March 22, the Easter Bunny will pose for free photos at 9th and Asbury Ave. The friendly rabbit will give out eggs filled with candy, Downtown gift certificates and prizes redeemable at participating stores from noon till 2 p.m. It will be EGG-stra Savings in the Downtown all day. Shoppers should look for the egg signs in windows of participating stores to receive an egg filled with prizes and benefit from in-store specials.
The Citys annual Easter Sunrise Service is set 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 23, in the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. The public is invited to the non-denominational program.
The annual fashion competition begins at 1 p.m. Easter Sunday in front of the Music Pier. Laurie Kohr, former Miss New Jersey, will emcee. A band, Early Morning Reign, will entertain at the reviewing stand. The Easter Bunny will distribute chocolate bunnies to children and pose for photos.
